Medical

The Hospitals of Providence has opened a 40,000 square-foot campus in Horizon City that provides high-quality health care and reduced travel times for medical attention. Providence’s joint venture with Emerus, the nation’s largest operator of micro-hospitals, features an emergency department, inpatient unit as well as lab and imaging services.

Education

Horizon City has a wide array of quality educational options for families. The city is served by the Socorro Independent School District and the Clint Independent School District, which have received various recognitions from the state. Most recently, six schools in the Socorro Independent School District and two campuses in the Clint Independent School District received distinctions from the state for academic performance. Horizon’s five elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools that provide a range of educational offerings, including advanced placement classes, dual credit courses and athletic programs serve the community’s children and youth. Ongoing investment into education is also a priority.

The region is served by El Paso Community College, which was ranked first among the top 25 community colleges for Hispanics and was also number one in the nation for granting associate degrees to Hispanic students by Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine.

Socorro recently completed a $297 million bond to build and modernize campuses in the 44,000-student district, which continues its growth in key areas including Horizon City.

Clint Independent School District voters approved an $80 million bond...

Clint Independent School District voters approved an $80 million bond measure in 2015 that is helping to create 21st century classrooms for students. Clint ISD also successfully launched an effort that provided a laptop or tablet to every child in the 11,700-student school district.

Proximity to the University of Texas at El Paso, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, and El Paso Community College offers exceptional higher education options and access to a powerful, state-of-the art educated workforce for incoming companies. It also makes Horizon City an outstanding community for businesses seeking to tap the region’s burgeoning medical development.

Texas Tech’s medical and dental schools, coupled with the University of Texas at El Paso’s nursing and pharmacy schools, have increased the region’s visibility and created endless possibilities.

New neighborhoods continue to spark growth in and around Horizon City. Mission Ridge, a master-planned development from Hunt Companies, Inc., is taking shape just west of the community and will preserve open space for hiking and biking trails weaving through the sun-splashed Chihuahuan Desert.

Quality of life

The lush 18-hole Horizon Golf & Conference Center remains the picturesque heart of the close-knit city that was incorporated in 1988. The community offers three public parks, a splash pad, walking trails and a senior community center so residents can take full advantage of the region’s sunny, year-round weather.

Retail

Recently-launched shops, along with retail giant Wal-Mart and eateries are energizing Horizon City’s thoroughfare.
